To get you started here are a few breakfast recipes designed by Shwetha Bhatia that will kick start your mornings and also double up perfectly well for a scrumptious evening snack.
Whole Wheat Pizza
Who doesn’t love pizza? But rarely does this tasty food align with our fitness goals. With this easy-to-make home recipe, you can now add a healthy touch to your most favorite dish.
You will need
- 2-4 Tbsp of whole wheat flour
- 1 slice low fat cheese
- Sliced mushroom
- Herbs (Oregano, Thyme, Basil, etc)
Use the recommended ( According to your diet plan) quantity of wheat flour and knead it into a dough. Grease lightly and roll it into a thick roti/pizza base. Microwave this till it hardens slightly.
Place the mushrooms and veggies over the base. Cover it with the slice of cheese. Spread the ketchup on the cheese and add the herbs. Place the pizza on a hot greased frying pan or oven till the cheese is visibly melting. Take it out and serve hot.
Raw Banana Ragada Patties
This popular Indian chat dish is usually made from potatoes and served with a spicy gravy made with peas. Shwetha adds a twist to it and uses a healthy variant – raw banana. It tastes the same, if not slightly more scrumptious.
You will need
- Raw banana
- Turmeric/ Haldi
- Garam masala powder
- Dried peas (white vatana)
- Cumin powder
- Coriander powder
- Chopped onion,
- Chopped coriander
- Chopped vegeetables (carrot, beans etc)
- Sweet chutney
- Green chutney
Pressure cook the raw banana with some oil. Once done, mash it with some garam masala, turmeric, and salt. Set this to cool in the refrigerator for half an hour. Take it out and add the chopped veggies to this mash. Flatten the mash into patties and cook on a non-stick tava.
For the gravy, pressure cook the soaked peas with turmeric, cumin powder, and salt. Once cooked, mash the mixture slightly to give the gravy some consistency.
Place the patty on a plate and pour the vatana gravy over it. Add some chopped onions, coriander and chutney. Serve it hot.
