The Ironman Triathlon comprises a 3.86-km swim, 180.25-km bicycle ride and a 42.2-km marathon that must be completed within 17 hours, in that order. It’s undeniably one of the toughest sporting events in the world — a challenge that Dr Kaustubh Radkar has taken on and completed, not once, but 11 times since 2008. Not just that, this practicing sports medicine expert is also India’s first and only Ironman-certified coach, and he loves to train and motivate people who want to challenge their fitness level. Dr. Contractor is a leading preventive cardiologist, and currently the head of Rehab and Sports Medicine at the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. He has also been the Medical Director for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon from 2004-2014 and the only person in India authorized as Certification Director of the American College of Sports Medicine in India.
