A runner and triathlete for Gotham City Runners and Nuun Hydration, Tara writes some brilliant prose on running and why she runs on her blog, like the below extract:

When I started running, it was all about me. I wanted to be in shape. I wanted to clear my head. I wanted to be strong. I wanted to be confident. I wanted to run a half marathon. I wanted to run a full marathon. I wanted to qualify for Boston. I wanted to work hard. For me.

Her tweets are largely about her training routines, running with her club and coaching new runners, while her Instagram is a mix of personal posts, funny observations and her running adventures.

The Runner Dad

With heart-warming motivational tweets such as the one above, and approachable advice about running, the Runner Dad is a must-follow account on Twitter and Instagram. The name is Matt Orlando, and he’s a runner, father and husband from New Jersey. His blog is a mix of his running and parenting adventures. He’s also well-known for his inspiration and motivation posts. And every now and then there’s an interview with a famous runner or a running exercise post, that makes it a well worth the effort of following him.

Martin Yelling

Founder of the running podcast Marathon Talk, running challenge Jantastic and co-founder of the Bournemouth Marathon Festival, Martin Yelling is a UK-based runner and coach who has represented England at road and cross country running. He’s also won the elite National duathlon championships twice, represented GB at world and European championships, recorded a sub 4hr half ironman and a 9.14 ironman and cracked the big one, the ironman world championships in Kona, Hawaii. He comes from a running family as his sister Hayley is a two-time European cross country champion. Follow him on Twitter for advice on keeping yourself injury-free and training for duathlons and triathlons.

Jessica Trengove

An Australian athlete in the 1500m, 5000m, 10,000m and marathon categories, Trengove represented her country at the 2012 Olympics in the marathon event. Her Facebook page updates followers about her upcoming runs, her training and competing at the highest level, while on Twitter she’s updating followers on her observations while running, and by-the-minute updates from her training, and of course advice for fellow runners.

Lisa McClellan

A mother of three kids, and the wife of US Navy Diver, Lisa McClellan loves to run, write, and laugh, and combines the three through insightful advice on nutrition, diet and health for runners. Follow her tweets about what energy drink to drink after a run, and even how to make it at home, and her Facebook page for more in-depth posts. An account well-worth your time on social media.
