Just this weekend, we were taken aback by the massive interest in the mobiefit #RunforRio challenge. Hundreds of new runners have signed up for the challenge, which means you really have to compete to get to Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Olympics. It seemed only fair to allow all our new contenders a fair chance to make it to the leaderboard, while also giving the existing front-runners a chance to extend their lead.

That’s why the #RunForRio challenge has now been extended till April 30, 2016. The rest of the rules remain the same. We are still going to give one lucky (and committed) runner a free trip to Brazil to watch the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. But now a lot more people can join in on the fun, and give you a run for your ‘money’.

India’s athletes are going to Rio with the expectations of over a billion Indians, and it will only help their cause to see some of their countrymen cheering on from close quarters. Mobiefit is giving you the chance of a lifetime, to get close to the action and cheer them with your loudest voice! The runner with the most kilometres logged during the contest will win the free trip to Brazil to witness the sporting action live in Rio De Janeiro.

The best part is that you only need to prove you are a runner to win this trip! No big quiz to answer or slogan to write. We are making it very easy for anyone – and we do mean anyone – to witness the Olympic Games live. The contest is open to all Indians till April 30, 2016.

All you need to do is follow these three steps and you could be flying to Rio:

  • Download mobiefit RUN
  • Register, and start the #RunforRio Challenge in our new Challenges section
  • Run for as long as you can till March 31, as many times as you can, while keeping the GPS on
That’s it! Every kilometre or mile you run will take that much closer to Rio. At this Olympic Games the likes of Usain Bolt, Genzebe Dibaba, and Meb Keflezighi will be looking to cement their reputations.

On the other hand, Indian athletes Nitendra Rawat, OP Jaisha, Kavita Raut and Lalita Babar will be looking to make history by bringing home athletics medal for the country.

Do note that in order to qualify for the prize, we will need runners to keep their GPS functionality on while using mobiefit RUN. The app will not track your kilometres if the GPS is off.

We will be verifying all the top entries to make sure you are not fudging the numbers by keeping mobiefit RUN on while on a drive or a bike ride. In addition, two instances of mobiefit RUN sessions – using two devices – can also be tracked by us, and will be automatically disqualified from the running for the prize. So don’t think about cutting corners; just focus on running the most and you could be flying to Rio!

And that’s not all. We will soon announce the prizes for those who miss out on the Rio berth. Don’t worry, we will make sure your run is more than worth it! This is your chance to witness in person Indian athletes creating history and cheer the Indian contingent.
