An initiative by the Amity Group, the Gurgaon Half Marathon aims to promote sportsmanship and healthy competition through the sport of running. In its first year, the event saw over 6000 runners—both professional and amateur—participate in its various categories.
Since then, the race has only grown more popular, not just among the citizens of Gurgaon but also among runners across the country. Event organizers expect more than 500 conditioned athletes, runners and walkers as well as 10,000 participants from around the city to be a part of this year’s edition, which is scheduled for April 3, 2016. Registrations for the race are open till April 2, 2016.
The event comprises three different running distances to suit runners of various skill levels.
Half Marathon: 21K race open to participants over 14 years of age.
Fun Run: 10K race open to participants over 14 years of age.
Kids’ Incremental Marathon: 5K run open for participants between 6 and 14 years.
All races start and end at Leisure Valley Park at Sector 29, Gurgaon. The event offers prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for Men and Women across all three categories. Winners of the Half Marathon stand a chance to win prize money worth INR 75,000, while top finishers of the 10K and 5K can win INR 25,000 and 30,000 respectively. Timings will be recorded with a chip in the 21km category.
