The monsoons bring respite from the heat, but there’s no stopping marathons in this season. Get ready for more running events in the coming weeks, ranging from ultramarathons in Ladakh to 5Ks in the Nainital hills. It’s sure to be a run-filled monsoon. Just one of the many ultramarathons that are set in this gorgeous part of India, the Zendurance Ladakh also has events for 10K, half marathon and a marathon. In addition, you can participate in the 100km ultra as a team of four or by yourself. It’s scheduled to be held on July 18-19. Registration is still open, but do note that this is not a run for beginners or those who have little training.
Each event has a cut-off time. The 10K has a cut-off time of 2 hours and has an entry fee of Rs 1,500. Registration for the 21K half marathon will cost you Rs 3,000 while the cut-off time is 4 hours. The marathon has a cut-off time of 8 hours, and a registration fee of Rs 6,000. The 100km individual ultra has a cut-off time of 17 hours, with a registration fee of Rs 25,000, while the relay registration fee is Rs 28,000. Participants will receive a dri-fit shirt along with a goodie bag, and finisher medals.
Zinnov’s 10K Run
Being organised as part of the Confluence 2015, a tech conference organised by Zinnov, the running event will be held on July 12. The event will have two categories – a 5K and a 10K run, with the registration fee being Rs 2,000 for individuals, and Rs 1,500 per person for groups of 5 and more. Dream Runners Half Marathon
One of the most popular half marathons in the country, the Dream Runners Half Marathon is back with the 2015 edition on July 26 in Chennai. This year, the run will donate all proceeds to FREEDOM Trust (Foundation for the Rehabilitation, Education and Empowerment of the Disabled of Madras) which will work towards using it to provide prosthetics and rehab help to amputees. The registration fee for both the 10K and the 21.1K half marathon is Rs 1,100, and you can sign-up here. Runners will get a timing chip, bib, T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, an e-certificate and refreshments during and after the run.
Kathgodam Half Marathon
Sports events company Thrill Zone’s Kathgodam Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, July 26 at Kathgodam in Nainital, with a 5K run, and a half marathon (21K) on offer for runners. Prizes are on offer for the top 3 in each event, with runners getting a T-shirt, finisher’s medals and timing certificates. Registration fee for the half marathon is Rs 600, and Rs 400 for the 5K.
Run India Run 10K
Organized under the aegis of the Mumbai Suburban District Athletics Association, the timing in this 10K enables runners to qualify for the Mumbai Marathon next year. All runners will have a timing chip. The registration fee for the 10K race is Rs 1,100, and entry will be closed after July 2. Participants also get discount vouchers for running gear.
