One of the most exciting running events in India is about to take flight. The Amaravati Marathon, organized by the NGO Disease Eradication through Education and Prevention (DEEP) and supported by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, will be the first to take place in the newly appointed capital of AP.
The maiden edition of the marathon will be held on January 10, 2016. The Amaravati Marathon is considered a prime showcase of the unity of the citizens of Andhra Pradesh, which resulted in the building of India’s youngest and newest city Amaravati. This marathon has got immense support from prominent personalities such as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, actors Vivek Oberoi, Ram and many more.
“Amaravati Marathon will be a culmination of people’s love, compassion and commitment to build and nurture their Capital. Running for Amaravati means running for a future where youngsters will build their careers, where happiness index will be the measure of the quality of living and where every dream will be achieved in a brighter, healthier and happier Andhra Pradesh. Join me in this Run for Amaravati, for it is our time to rise,” the Chief Minister said.
The Amaravati Marathon runs will begin from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium at 6 am on January 10. The even comprises a half marathon (21.1 Km), and 10K and 5K runs. The registration fee for the half marathon is Rs 1,000, Those who are getting ready to run a 10K with FirstRun, can opt for the 10K competitive run with a registration fee of Rs 750. The 5K run has an entry fee of Rs 500. The registration fees includes T-Shirt, Timing Chip, Medal and Snacks.
