Qualify for the 2016 Boston Marathon with a finish at The Spice Coast Marathon, scheduled to be held on November 15, 2015. It’s one of the few official Boston Qualifier courses in India and consists of three categories — the full marathon, the half marathon, and the 5K run.

The marathon covers a total distance of 42.2 km, taking participants through Kochi’s famed Spice Market, along the Arabian Sea coast, and other scenic locations in the historic city. The full marathon starts at 4 in the morning, but the starting point and the route for the event have not yet been disclosed. The full marathon has a timed check post, i.e. if a participant fails to cross the check post within a certain time, he or she will be automatically disqualified.

The half marathon is a 21.1 km run, while the 5K Family Fun Run is the equivalent of a dream run. The latter is not a timed event, though every participant who crosses the finish line will get a medal. The 5K run starts at 7 a.m, the venue and the course details are not yet made public. Participants who cross the finish line in the full marathon and the half marathon will be awarded a medal, as well, as long as they make it within the check post timings.

The registration for all the events, the full marathon, the half marathon, and the 5K walk/run, are now open. Registration can be done online, the registration fee for the full marathon is Rs 1,100, half marathon Rs 900, and the registration fee for the Family Fun Run is Rs 500.

In addition, there’s a Corporate Relay half marathon event as well with a total distance of 21.1 km. Each team shall consist of four members, and each of them has to run approximately 5.25 to complete the relay. There is no restriction on the number of teams per company, but at least one female runner is required per team.

All the participants in each of the events are given T-shirts on the day of the event and a post-run breakfast is also provided.
