The Bangalore Ultra will continue to be the champion of Indian ultra-running in 2016 as the dates for the event are announced.
The Performax Bangalore Ultra, as it is officially called, is India’s first and longest-running ultramarathon. Most ultrarunners in India have cut their teeth in this event, including the likes of Dinesh Heda, Meenal Sukhija, Joginder Chandna as well as Goldman Sachs MD Vaishali Kasture. The former three will be seen at the Great India Run in July 2016, where runners will cover a distance of 1480km between New Delhi and Mumbai in just 16 days!
Registration for all the categories for the 2016 Bangalore Ultra Festival is already underway. This year’s venue is yet to be decided but the races will be held on November 12 and 13, 2016, unfortunately clashing with the Nilgiris 100, which is also held in the same region. Last year, the Bangalore Ultra took place at the scenic Hennur Bamboo forest, and was also spread out over two days, November 7 and 8, 2015. The Bangalore Ultra is just one of the events organised by Runners For Life, the Bangalore-based running and fitness group.
Participants have to register for each event separately. This year, the 50K, 75K, 100K & 24-Hour Challenge will be flagged off on November 12, while the shorter 12.5K and 25K runs will be held the next day. All details regarding the registration process and payments can be found here. Do note that the registration dates have not yet been announced. Last year, the entries were closed on October 15, 2015, so expect a similar deadline this year too. Spot registrations as always will not allowed. Since there are two running days, participants can register for one event on each day.
