Ironman athlete and mobiefit RUN fitness icon Milind Soman is all set to join some of the world’s premier ultra-marathoners at The Great India Run 2016. While Milind will not be running from Delhi to Mumbai, he will join the group from Ahmedabad and cover a distance of 570 kilometres to Mumbai passing through Silvassa, starting on July 27, 2016.
The Great India Run is India’s first multi-city marathon series which ties together a larger ultra-marathon, and is being co-organised by mobiefit and ProSportify. The ultra run will begin from the India Gate in Delhi and will culminate at the Gateway of India, a distance of 1480 km to create a world record. Milind along with mobiefit and ProSportify announced the inclusion of Silvassa as a special destination on the route.
The entire event, scheduled from July 17 to August 6 will see 15 of the best ultra runners from India and the world cross six states Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, to promote running as a sport in the country. Milind Soman will reach Mumbai from Ahmedabad, via Silvassa.
The capital of Dadra and Nagar Haveli is known for stunning scenery, water sports as well as the Endurathon an ultramarathon event that takes place in the region. “I am happy to hear that The Great India Run will pass through Silvassa. It will create a lot of excitement for endurance running in the region and personally, I am looking forward to running in that beautiful place,” said Milind Soman at the event.
