Registrations for India’s biggest marathon, the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon kicked off today with entries for half marathon category. The registration started on Thursday, July 30 at 10 am IST. It must be noted that only participants who want to run in the half marathon can register right now. Registrations for Dream Run begin on August 19, 2015 at 10 am. The 2016 edition of SCMM will be held on January 17, 2016, kicking off at the iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in south Mumbai and running through the heart of the city.
The registration fees for the half marathon is Rs 1400, while the Dream Run entry fee is Rs 800. The half marathon distance is 21.1 km, so it wouldn’t be wise to apply without a systematic training plan. Registrations for the full marathon is subject to the qualification criteria, which is determined by finishing times at specific eligibility events. The full marathon entry fee is Rs 1500. Minimum age eligibility for the full marathon is 18 years as on race day (i.e born on or before 16/1/1998). The Marathon registration had already bgeun earlier this month on July 21.
In addition, there’s a Senior Citizens’ Run (entry fee: 350), a Champions with Disability run (entry fee: 350) – registrations for both start on August 24, 2015 at 10 am – and a Corporate Relay Run.
The SCMM is India’s biggest marathon with turnouts of well over 40,000 in the last few editions. As such it’s a marquee event in the Indian running calendar and many of our favourite Indian runners have competed in this marathon at one time or the other.
