The butterfly stretch exercise usually stretches your inner thighs, groin, hips, and lower back. If you are doing it right, you will also be engaging your core slightly which is a great way to relax after an intense cardio session or after a long run. Take extra care to lean forward from your hips rather than rounding your lower back, something you would know from doing squats in the right way. Also be careful about your knee as the butterfly stretch is known to cause some discomfort if it’s already hurt.
