It’s finals day as The Great India Run comes to an end in Mumbai after 18 days of running from Delhi. At the closing ceremony at the Radio Club near Gateway of India, mobiefit Chief Operating Officer Utkarsh Singh (pictured above speaking) was present along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and mobiefit RUN fitness icon Milind Soman and other dignitaries.
Milind had completed his run from Ahmedabad to Mumbai this morning and was present along with the other 18 ultra-runners were celebrated at the event. Here’s the video of the final day of running:
Over the last two weeks, runners have travelled through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu and Maharashtra. Join us for the closing ceremony of The Great India Run, where runners will run a 5K fun run, and a 21K run as a show of support for the tireless ultra-runners.
With stops overnight, the leading runners covered more than 70km per day even as the temperatures soared in the early part of the run. As the days went by, the weather cooled down and showers greeted the runners as they entered Gujarat after the heat of Rajasthan. This seemed to spur them into a faster pace, as the days went by with kilometres ticking.
And now the epic run has come to an end right before the Indian athletes shine at Rio in Olympics. This immense feat should serve as an inspiration for the contingent and is a teaser of what Indian athletes are capable of.
